| From the Designer's Desk |
In January, we start making short-lived resolutions about being healthier, happier, and--simply stated--better. But in December, we look back on the past year with mixed emotions. While I don't advise looking backward--especially while walking the dog, painting a room, or running from your children--this is the one time I allow myself to turn around and enjoy the view.
This has been a great year for Simply Stated Interiors. My schedule, which you know if you read my monthly newsletter, has been quite busy with large projects. I'm happy to see people investing in their homes. My projects have varied from simple paint updates and countertop replacements to full scale remodeling projects; like raising a flat roof home to a pitched roof, a kitchen remodel and a finished lower level.
A few first's and highlights from 2015:
- I had my first experience in the MABA Parade of Homes.
- I collaborated with a celebrity designer.
- The National Kitchen and Bath Association awarded me 1st place for a kitchen project.
- The National Association of the Remodeling Industry named me Rookie of the Year during their recent CotY Awards event.
- I attended the Kitchen & Bath Industry Show in Las Vegas.
- I perused the High Point Furniture Market in North Carolina.
My trip to HighPoint resulted in a partnership with Thibaut Wallpaper and Surya--a rug, pillow, and decor brand. (Thibaut recently sent me enormous look books full of luxe wallpaper designs. I can't wait to share them with you.)
The other highlights of High Point (sorry, I couldn't help myself) included a reveal of upcoming design trends:
- faux fur
- natural colors
Think vintage Hollywood glamour.
But no worries, I don't follow a trend just because it exists. I garner the right ideas, pieces, and plans that fit your lifestyle. I want to make your design dream a reality, not a showroom for HighPoint or a demo house for Thibaut wallpaper. (But hey, they do have LOTS to choose from!)
Thank you all for how you've supported SSI this year. I treasure the projects and relationships that 2015 has brought and look forward to a new year with you all.
