While parting with summer is full of sweet sorrow, I have to admit that crisp breezes and mugs of warm cider sound AMAZING right now. If you're still standing in the gap between summer and autumn, here are 3 color palettes to see you happily into the next season and beyond.

1 | An orange, white & neutral concoction

Jumping from summer's fruity freshness to Halloween's stark orange and black can be too shocking for most tastes. I recommend using a softer palette with a balance of whites and neutrals.

If you're loving this palette and want to see it in action on a more permanent level, check out this beautiful sitting room:

Add a bit more traditional black and less orange for a more modern, sleek interior--sans pumkins:

If bright colors speak to your heart, try boldly mixing orange with pastels, like pink and turquoise. Be sure to keep these colorful elements minimal and your walls, ceiling, trim, and window coverings neutral to prevent color-overload.

Using orange, especially in more permanent applications such as wall color and furniture, is a big step for you as a homeowner. What will people think? What will YOU think months or years after adding the orange? Be sure to collaborate with an experienced interior designer before taking the leap.
